ALBUQUERUQE (KRQE) – A New Mexico-based company is expanding in Maine. Sierra Peaks Corporation says it plans to invest $3 million in two facilities in the coastal state, creating about 29 jobs. NAGEEZI, N.M. (KRQE) – The National Park Service is celebrating Chaco Canyon’s designation as an international dark sky park. Officials say the greater Chaco landscape in northwestern New Mexico is one of the best places in the U.S. for viewing the night sky. The celebration starts with a guided walk through Chetro Ketl, one of Chaco’s great houses. There will also be a tour of Pueblo Bonito, the most important site in the canyon, and a discussion about astronomy. The day finishes with telescopes and a star party.

The board did not vote on the proposal Wednesday night, but they did vote on the fluoride issue and decided not to go forward with the measure. There was talk about adding fluoride to the water again to reach federal fluoride recommendations. Fluoride occurs naturally in Albuquerque’s water system. The water authority stopped adding it in 2011. The board says they will consider the issue again in the future.
