This act was passed with one thing in mind….VOTERS!! The goal was to provide clarity and transparency for voters and to encourage voter participation. The principle reason was to create an election day that voters are aware of and that would be consistent over time, rather than having multiple small elections throughout the year. Every November the voters can anticipate an election. The local election act consolidates all non-partisan elections into the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of odd numbered years. November of even numbered years the General Election is held.
